I found this mixed media work in my archive and thought this one is worth showing. The work is almost 30 years old and was made in my graphic design class at HTBLA Ortwein, Graz. The first step was to build up an underpainting with watercolors, later we were to work out the face with color pencils. The aim was always to concentrate on the larger elements first and only then on the smaller and more detailed areas. A typical graphic training work where you learn to work with several layers and to copy a reference picture in great detail with perseverance.
