I saw this portrait of David Bowie on a film flyer promoting an upcoming documentary about him. I thought, what a great photo, perfect for painting. So I worked on it in three sessions and got this result. I started with a rough sketch in charcoal, followed by a monochrome underpainting and the final build-up in colour.
